BAFFIN BOMBER’S CRASH
ERROR OF JUDGMENT MADE (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, February 20. A statement regarding the finding of the Court of Inquiry into the accident to the Baffin bomber at Waimairi Beach was made by the Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence. He said the Court found that the aircraft and engine were serviceable before the flight and that there was no failure of controls or any other part of the structure during the flight. The accident was due solely to an error of judgment. The aircraft lost flying speed when coming out of a turn and did not have sufficient height to recover from the resulting spin.
