RAPID STRIDES MADE BY BATTALION
HIGH PRAISE FOR MAORIS’ TRAINING (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 20. High praise for the 28th (Maori) Rifle Battalion, which he inspected in camp at Palmerston North, was expressed by Major-General J. E. Duigan, Chief of the General Staff, in an interview today. The progress this battalion has made was most satisfactory, he said. “It is hard to believe, without actually seeing them on parade, the rapid strides that have been made. Their progress reflects credit on the commanding officer of the company and the platoon commanders and non-commis-sioned officers, who were trained at Trentham for two months before taking over their units.”
