“DREADFUL OFFENCE” COMMITTED
(United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, February 19. “You have committed a dreadful offence under dreadful circumstances,’ said Mr Justice Northcroft in the Supreme Court when sentencing Frederick Charles Rhode Clark to five years’ hard labour for rape. The Judge remarked that the victim was an invalid incapable of defending herself or even calling for help.
