The Roman Catholic Bishop of Dunedin, the Rt. Rev. Dr James Whyte, will arrive at Gore on Saturday to take part in the jubilee celebrations of St. Mary’s School. Mr W. F. Sturman, town clerk, who has been on holiday leave in the North Island, will resume his duties today. Mr R. Macgregor, of Dunedin, arrived by the midday express yesterday on a business visit to Invercargill. Mr G. Z. Lindley, of Dunedin, a director of Sargood, Son and Ewen, who has been visiting Invercargill, returned north by the afternoon express yesterday.

Mr E. C. Stopford, chief traffic inspector, who has been on holiday in Timaru, is expected to resume his duties tomorrow.

Sir John Harris, Minister for Public Instruction and Health in Victoria, arrived in Christchurch by the steamer express from Wellington on Tuesday. Mr A, H. Johns, secretary of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, Limited, has arrived from Melbourne on a visit to New Zealand.

Major L. M. Fairbrother, who was attached to the Taranaki Regiment and who was stationed for some time in New Plymouth, has been appointed head master of the Lincoln School. For many years he has been a head master under the Taranaki Education Board. Mr A. Seitz, Director of Education in Victoria, is visiting Christchurch. Mr W. Jordan, son of the High Commissioner for New Zealand, has interrupted his studies at St. Andrew’s University, Scotland, to join the Royal Air Force. He is training to be a signaller.
