TREATMENT AT LORNE FARM
WOMAN PATIENT PLEASED Admiration for the treatment and care she received at Lome Farm was expressed by a former patient in a letter read at yesterday’s meeting of the Southland Hospital Board. The writer said she was very pleased with that institution, and as she was led to believe that it might be closed—which she hoped it would never be, as the convenience and surroundings made one feel very satisfied—she was only voicing the feeling of her fellow patients when she expressed the hope that the Lome Farm and Institution might be available for many years, to nurse and comfort the sick and be able to give that “at home” feeling the writer had enjoyed while there. “We don’t want to make it too attractive,” remarked the chairman, Mr T. Golden. Mr W. M. 'Norman said that it had been stated that women would not go to the Lome institution, but the letter from a woman testified to the good accommodation and service there. Patients remaining at the Southland Hospital at November 30 totalled 116, reported the acting medical superintendent (Dr James Ramsay). A total of 259 patients was admitted in November, 266 were discharged and five died. At the Gore Hospital 45 patients remained at December 1. Admissions during November totalled 80; 66 were discharged and three died. Fifty-five patients remained at the Riverton Hospital at December 1. Forty-six were admitted in November, 43 were discharged and three died. At the Lake County Hospital 12 patients were admitted during November, 10 were discharged, and 14 remained at December 1. The Lome Infirmary housed 67 patients at December 1. Twenty-four were admitted in November, 25 discharged and three died.
