BEAUTIFUL GIFTS AT REIN’S
FLORAL STUDIES WIN PRAISE From the beginning of time man has cherished a love for the rare and the beautiful, and the jeweller has occupied an important place in the courts of kings in alb ages. Today the jewellers art has reached a high standard of development, and an inspetcion of N. J. M. Rein Ltd’s windows and show rooms in Dee street are sufficient proof of the high standard of skill that has been attained in this class of work. This year Crown Staffordshire floral studies and dressing table sets—brush, comb and mirror—are features in a striking display. Delicate Dresden figures occupy a prominent place in the display. These exquisitely wrought figures are always a popular form of Christmas present and have the additional attraction of being inexpensive, the prices carrying
from two and three shillings up to £2 and £3. Porcelains and 'china of amazing fragility and purity can compare with anything the Old World has to offer, and indeed these dainty little Dresden figures catch the eye at once. One almost expects to see their filmy crinolines flutter with every movement of the air. Then there is the antique bronzes display, which has been attracting shoppers of all classes. In the gift comer, a small room at the back of the shop, all descriptions of suitable presents are to be found. Indeed, even to the non-purchaser the display makes an attractive appeal and is well worth a visit. It is a veritable gift fairyland. Crystal dressing table ware, perfume bottle sprays, powder bowls and jewel cases are prominently featured in the gift room, which also contains table ornaments and other suitable Christmas presents. An ideal type of Christmas present is the Richelieu pearl necklets in single, double and treble strands. Petite point compacts in enamels are also popular. Setting off this wonderful display of gifts is a magnificently-equipped shop-, front, which, from the point of view of reflecting the value and variety of this store house of jewels, must be regarded as the show place of a busy street. It is not too much to add that Rein’s window display is equal to the best anywhere in New Zealand.
