FIRST ANNUAL CONFERENCE HELD The first annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers (Incorporated) was held in Wellington, the president, Mr N. H. Mackie,. presiding. It was reported that the membership of the institute was about 350 and that branches had been established with headquarters at Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin and Invercargill. It was decided that members on military service should be exempt from payment of fees if in receipt of military pay only. Progress in the matter of establishing libraries was reported, and it was resolved * that Lincoln College and Auckland University College examinations on valuing should be accepted as a qualification for associate membership of the institute. Financial provision was made for the establishment of statistical bureaux in respect of urban and rural records. During the conference a dinner was held at the Hotel Waterloo. There was a representative gathering, including heads of various Government departments, financial institutions, members of the Institute Council and others.
