Mainly Fair (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, December 18. Gradually freshening north to west winds, weather mainly fair but scattered showers developing from the west, mild on the coast and warm inland. Seas slight to moderate but rising. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Continuing fair to fine and warm in most districts but scattered showers probable in the south-wes-tern portion of the South Island and some local thunderstorms possible elsewhere. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone envelops the Dominion, the highest pressures being in the north. Winds.—Light to moderate and rather variable with northerly directions gradually predominating, force later increasing somewhat in the South Island. Seas.—New Zealand waters, slight to moderate but rising later south of Westport. Eastern Tasman Sea, light variable winds and slight seas in central and northern portions, freshening north-west winds and rising seas in southern. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and particularly warm. Two light showers fell during the day. The weather at one o’clock this morning was mild and calm, with a clear sky overhead.
