CHRISTMAS FEELING IN DUNEDIN
BRISK BUSINESS DONE BY | SHOPS (Special to The Times) DUNEDIN, December 18. War or no war the people of Dunedin have determined to enjoy their Christmas this year. This at least is the impression to be gained from the business being done iy shops, from the general atmosphere about the city and from the phenomenal demand which is being experienced by the local office of the Tourist Department for bookings at holiday resorts and for trips to the Centennial Exhibition. "The best for many years,” was a phrase used by several business men when commenting on Christmas trade and this is certainly borne out by the way people are crowding the shopping areas. There is an exceptionally large number of bookings for the Centennial Exhibition which seems to have captured the imagination of the people of Dunedin who are probably more “exhibitionconscious,” remembering their own 1925-26 effort; than any others in New Zealand.
