CHRISTMAS GIFTS TO MR SAVAGE
PIPE FROM SOLDIERS AT PAPAKURA (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 18. Among the many Christmas gifts the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) has received is a cool smoking pipe from a number of the engineering corps at the Papakura military camp. In accepting the gift Mr Savage said: “I am not a heavy smoker but a gift like this and the goodwill behind it are a temptation to smoke more often and contemplate the kindness of soldiers whom I have never seen and may not ever meet. As friends I warmly thank them and hope that the gift will soon be the pipe of peace.”
