GOVERNMENT SECURITIES SOUGHT ON INVERCARGILL EXCHANGE Strong support continued to come for Government securities on the Invercargill Stock Exchange yesterday. Banks were quiet with limited inquiry. Commonwealth industrials were inactive. Some New Zealand issues were firmer. Drugs advanced to £3/14/6 and Dominion Fertilizers to £l/6/-. A sale of Napier Borough 4| per cent, debentures maturing in 1960 was reported at £99/10/-. Quotations were as follows:—
Hedge Fire f The Invercargill Fire Brigade was called out at 9.36 o’clock last night to a hedge fire at 72 Forth street. About 20 feet of the hedge was burned, but no damage was done to other property. Express Arrives Late Because of heavy railway traffic the express from Dunedin die not reach Invercargill until 1.50 yesterday afternoon. Its scheduled time of arrival is 1.5 p.m.
