Mainly Fair to Cloudy (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, December 16. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate to fresh north-westerly winds; weather mainly fair to cloudy and mild but with scattered rains developing from the west Seas slight to moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather fair to fine and warm generally but with scattered rains developing in the far south and west. General Situation.—The recent disturbance over the Auckland Peninsula has moved away to the east and pressure is relatively high and fairly uniform over the whole country. Winds.—South-westerly prevailing over the Auckland province, elsewhere rather variable, but with northerly directions predominating. Force light to moderate generally, but later freshening in the south. Seas (New Zealand waters). —Slight or moderate.- Eastern Tasman Sea.—variable winds and slight seas in the northern portion, fresh north-westerly winds and moderate seas in the southern portion.
