MILK FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN
EFFORT TO REDUCE AMOUNT RETURNED A decision to co-operate with the Health and Education Departments in reducing the amount of milk returned from primary schools, was. made yesterday at a meeting of the Southland Education Board. “It would be greatly, appreciated if you would ask the head master and others responsible for the ordering of the daily, supplies to ensure that only tlie quantities which are reasonably expected to be used are ordered,” stated a memorandum from the Health Department forwarded by the Education Department. “It is recognized, of course, that in some instances extraordinary circumstances may arise which result in a large proportion of the milk ordered not actually being required. We shall be pleased if you will, at a convenient time, bring this matter to the notice of teachers concerned.” .
