RECREATION CAMP AT HALFWAY BAY
MANY BOOKINGS IN CITY The recreation camp at Halfway Bay which the Department of Internal Affairs will conduct during the Christmas holidays promises to be one of the most popular excursions yet arranged by the Physical Welfare branch of the department. The area recreation officer in Invercargill (Mr Lloyd Woods) stated yesterday that bookings for the camp were coming in well and that a fine type of boy was coming forward. The camp which will be held from Christmas Day until January 6, is open to all young men and boys who will be required to pass a medical examination on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 12. The cost, including the fare to Halfway Bay, Lake Wakatipu, and 12 days in camp, is £l/15/-. Campers will travel by the train for Gore which leaves Invercargill at 10.25 a.m. on Monday, December 25. The steamer Earnslaw will carry the party from Kingston to Halfway Bay. The excellent sports programme which has been arranged and the expert tuition available, together with the attractive locality, should ensure a thoroughly enjoyable holiday for those who make the trip.
