SINGLE YOUNG MEN TO BE CALLED UP
IMPORTS CURTAILED TO CONSERVE OVERSEAS FUNDS ... .. V (By Radio—l.ls a.m.) LONDON, November 30. v It has been announced in Australia that all single men who will reach the age of 21 years during the year ending June 1940 are to be called up for 11 weeks’ compulsory training. War expenditure, it was also announced, is to be financedin the meantime by bank loans but later finance will be raised by increased taxation and public loans. It is expected that war loan certificates will make their appearance quite soon. Australia is also placing restrictions on its imports. To conserve Australian funds in non-sterling countries imports from those countries will be entirely prohibited or severely curtailed.
