Cloudy To Overcast

WELLINGTON, November 30. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:—

Fresh to strong winds from a westerly quarter, weather cloudy to overcast with occasional rain; moderate temperatures. Seas moderate to rather rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Unsettled in western districts and in the north and south with rain at times; some further heavy falls probable in and west of the Southern Alps with Canterbury and West. Coast rivers in flood. Fair to cloudy conditions predominating in eastern districts but some light scattered showers extending at times in these areas

also. Mild temperatures. General Situation.—An extensive depression is moving on to the Dominion from the west, the lowest pressures being in the south. Winds.— North-easterly still prevailing in the North Island and northerly to north-westerly from Cook Strait southwards; moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force at places. Seas.—New Zealand waters, moderate south of Kaikoura and inshore north of Kawhia, elsewhere rough. Eastern Tasman Sea, strong northerly winds and rough seas, winds later tending westerly in the southern portion. Weather unsettled.
