SOVIET CANCELS PACT WITH FINLAND
RELATIONS BETWEEN STATES DETERIORATING GRAVELY GERMANY IDENTIFIES HERSELF WITH RUSSIAN DEMANDS (United Press Association—Telegraph Copyright) (Received November 29, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 28. The Soviet Prime Minister and Commissar for Foreign Affairs’ M. Viacheslav Molotov, told the Finnish Minister that the Soviet intended to denounce the Soviet-Finnish Non-Aggression Pact because Finnish foreign policy was inconsistent with that pact, states the Moscow correspondent of the British United Press. .. The Moscow radio announces that the pact has already been cancelled. The Russian-Finnish situation has gravely deteriorated. The Finnish Cabinet was summoned to an emergency meeting immediately the Russian Note denouncing the non-aggression pact was received. The Cabinet rose at midnight. The communique stated that the Government considered the new Soviet Note, to which it defined its attitude. It will hand over its reply today. Other despatches report great Russian military activity. It is reported without confirmation that a Finnish general mobilization has been ordered and towns have been blacked out.
It is officially announced from Berlin that Germany identifies herself completely with the Russian demands on Finland, but does not intend to interfere with the dispute in any way.
