COMING-OF-AGE PARTY AT BLUFF

MR J. WALKER HONOURED Many friends and well-wishers were recent guests of Mr and Mrs J. Walker, Shannon street, Bluff, at an evening in Barber’s Hall to celebrate the coming of age of their second eldest son, Mr Jack Walker. An enjoyable evening was spent in items and dancing, music for which was supplied by Mr S, Donald, Invercargill. Novelty dances were won by Miss B. Barnes and Mr R. Russell (Monte Carlo), Miss M. McTigue and Mr L. Martin (spot waltz) and Miss E. Miller and Mr J. Butterfield (statue dance). Among those who contributed items were Miss A. Jenkinson (song), Messrs R. Sutherland, R. Hawke and J. Walker (instrumental trio), Mr S. Donald (piano solo), .Miss N. Bradshaw (tap dance). GOLF CLUB The following is the draw for Canadian foursomes to be played on the Bluff golf links tomorrow afternoon, starting at 1.30 p.m.: C. Hunter and H. Newman v. C. Parsons and R. Pearce; A. R. Ross and E. R. Murray v. H. A. Ferguson and J. Lindqvist; A. C. McKillop and N. Stewart v. D. Bruce and J. Hamilton; J. H.. Doyle and W. Doyle v. D. E. S. Mason and L. Edwards. There will be no match play in the women’s section of the club while handicaps are being rescheduled for next season’s play. The best cards to date are: Mrs J. Bragg 113-47-66; Mrs H. W. Newman 115-48-67; Mrs X M. Urwin 115-48-67; Mrs Waitiri 119-48-71; Miss McKillop 119-48-71.
