Miss Clare O’Neil, of Timaru, is on holiday with her sister, Mrs G. W. Paton, Ettrick street. Mrs J. A. Lush, Don street, will leave on Sunday to visit her daughter, Mrs Robert Bryant, Nelson. Mrs J. R. Sutton, Earnslaw street, will leave tomorrow to visit her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs H. G. Sutton, Alexandra. Mrs Howard Sutton, Moa Flat, and her baby daughter, who are the guests of Mrs J. R. Sutton, Earnslaw street, will return home tomorrow.

Mrs J. E. Hickey, Woodlands, was recently hostess at a party at her home to celebrate the combined birthdays of Moya Hickey and Brian Toomey. Mrs J. Hargest, Rakauhauka, will leave by train for Christchurch today to attend the Lincoln College sports tomorrow. She will return next Tuesday.

The annual meeting of the Arts and Crafts Circle of the Women’s Club was held at the Women’s Club rooms yesterday, when Mrs G. R. Milward presided. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames S. J. Randle, A. Derbie, H. Drees, H. R. Kingsland, Roy Anderson and Miss C. McLeod. The election of officers resulted: Chairman, Mrs Milward (re-elected); secretary, Miss E. O’Byrne (re-elected); new members of committee, Mesdames J. H. Young, R. C. Barnett and H. R. Gibson. Other members of committee, Mesdames H. Drees, A. E. W. McDonald, H. R. Kingsland, Misses E. McKay and E. O’Byrne.
