Occasional Showers

(Special to The .Times) WELLINGTON, October 11. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the meteorological office, Wellington:— Moderate to fre§h southerly winds. Weather cloudy and cool, with occasional showers. Seas rather rough, but later decreasing. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather for the most part fair to cloudy; rather changeable, however, with occasional scattered showers, more especially in the far south. Temperatures becoming cooler. General Situation.—A weak depression is moving eastward across the Dominion and is being followed by an extensive anti-cyclone. Winds.— North-westerly at first north of Nelson and Marlborough; southerlies thence southward, and southerlies or south-westerlies gradually becoming general; force moderate to fresh. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rather rough about Foveaux Strait; elsewhere slight to moderate, but rising somewhat on the east coast south of Castlepoint Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to fresh south-west to south winds prevailing; seas moderate in the north and rather rough in the south.
