NEW LEADER OF RATANA MOVEMENT

WELLINGTON, October 11. Formal approval of the appointment of Mr H. T. Ratana, M.P., as president of the Ratana Church and movement m succession to his father is at present being obtained from adherents throughout the Dominion. Mr Ratana is regarded as the logical successor to the presidency and has already been proclaimed as such by leading executive men in the movement, as well as by the Maori people living in the Ratana Pa and members who. were present at the tangi. . , , To obtain the full acquiesence of adherents of the movement throughout New Zealand a memorial is being circulated for signature. It is expected that this document formally requesting Mr Ratana to succeed his father will be officially presented to him at an appropriate ceremony early next month.
