R.S.A. MEMBERSHIP LADDER The financial membership ladder of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association up to August 31, which was received at a meeting of the executive of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association, revealed that the Gore association occupied eighth position with 369 members. The total New Zealand membership was 18,790, compared with 15,555 for the same period last year. The secretary reported that the Gore association’s membership now stood at 394, compared with 381 for the sama period last year. Those present at the meeting were: Messrs A. L. McDowell (president), J. McDonald, W. H. Sadlier, W. D. Shelton, A. C. Steel, M. Green, E. J. Coiumb, J. McQueen, P. R. Stewart, F. M. Murray, T. F. Rusbridge, J. Adams, C. M. Wilson and G. L. Gerken (secretary). One new member was elected to the association.

Advice was received from the general secretary, Wellington, that Poppy Day and Anzac Day would be celebrated as usual in 1940. Motions of sympathy were carried with Mr Duncan Crossan, of Kelso, in the death of his brother, and with Mr Duncan Kerr, of Gore, in the death of his sister.

It was decided to hold the annual reunion of the association on November 11. The following sub-committees were appointed: Seating, Messrs Adams, Coiumb, and Gerken; catering, Messrs Shelton and Gerken; programme, Mr P. Stewart; O.C. mess orderlies, Mr Wilson; toast-master, Mr Sadlier.
