GENERAL ELECTION IN QUEBEC
MINISTERS THREATEN TO RESIGN
(Received October 10, 7.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, October 9.
Calling the Quebec general provincial election “national sabotage,” the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of Canada (Mr Ernest Lapointe) announced that he and the FrenchCanadian Ministers would resign if the Premier of Quebec (Mr Maurice Duplessis) and his supporters were reelected. “I am confident there will not be a verdict acclaiming Berlin and Moscow,” said Mr Lapointe. “Canada went into the war willingly to support two great peoples that have given her life and liberty and whose existence is a guarantee of world order.”
