WAITANGI PREP ABES FOR CENTENNIAL—As well as their contribution of a canoe to augment Princess Te Puea’s fleet, the Northern Maoris are co-operating with the Public Works Department in the building of this large meeting house at Waitangi, which is to be finished for the northern celebrations at the beginning of February. Although the house itself is built with modern material, the carving follows strictly the old tradition, even to the beneficent deity on the ridge pole.
