MONTHLY MEETING OF R.S.A.

At the monthly meeting of the Edendale Returned Soldiers’ Association Mr J. Halliday presided. Several members from the Wyndham branch were also present.

The secretary (Mr R. H. Bissett) reported on the meeting of delegates held at Invercargill to discuss the proposed combined picnic to be held on Riverton racecourse. Each branch was asked to appoint four delegates to act on the sports committee and tea, sugar, hot water and milk would be provided. Special trains would run from all parts of Southland, and the fares from Edendale would be 4/3 for adults and 2/3 for children. After some discussion it was decided to support the proposal, and £l/1/was given towards the preliminary expenses. Messrs J. Halliday, R. ,H. Bissett and W. McCorkindale were appointed to attend the next meeting of delegates at Invercargill, and Messrs J. Archibald, G. Smith, T. Hickey and T. Beck were appointed to the sports committee.
