MR CHIPS OF CHICAGO
Since the release of the picture “Good-bye, Mr Chips” in America, Otis Chips, a Chicago merchant, has received an average of 50 telephone calls a day. The conversation goes like this: “Hello, is that Mr Chips?” “Yes.”
“Good-bye, Mr Chips.” Then the caller hangs up. Otis is the only Chips in the telephone directory. The picture was made in England with Robert Donat in the title role, and Greer Garson as Mrs Chips, the role in which she sprang to fame.
