JEWELLERS’ STORES RIFLED
GANG BELIEVED TO BE AT WORK IN AUCKLAND (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 13. The police believe an experienced gang of jewel thieves is operating in Auckland. Last night thieves forced the back door of the shop of Ernest McFeat, manufacturing jeweller, in Karangahape road and stole almost the whole stock, valued at between £650 and £7OO, including hundreds of gold rings, and gold and silver wristlet and pocket watches. On Monday night thieves entered the shop of A. and G. Hutchinson, watchmakers and jewellers, Queen’s Arcade, and stole jewellery valued at £lOO and £5 in cash. There were no outward signs of how entrance was obtained and it is believed a skeleton key was used. The lost property includes 51 rings and 24 wristlet watches. Last night the premises of W. Parkin-
son and Company, monumental masons, Victoria West street, were broken into and all rooms and offices ransacked. It was discovered this morning that a hole burnt in the floor was caused by the burning of dislodged documents. The thieves stole £5 in cash, but overlooked a cashbox containing other money.
