Showers and Fair Intervals

WELLINGTON, September 13.
Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the meteorological office, Wellington:— Moderate to fresh winds, with
south-westerlies predominating. Weather changeable, with showers
and fair intervals. Temperatures cold.
Seas rather rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Steady rain or drizzle probable along the East Coast from North Canterbury to beyond Hawke’s Bay; elsewhere, changeable with passing showers and cold temperatures, with
some snow on the ranges. General Situation.—Since yesterday a deep depression has crossed the Dominion and will probably be followed by a series of secondaries; pressure is high to the west. Winds.—Moderate to strong westerly to southerly prevailing. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rough on the West Coast and becoming rough between Banks Peninsula and East Cape; moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea, fresh to strong southwest winds and rough seas.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was cold and wet Heavy rain fell at intervals during the day and there was a short fall of snow early in the afternoon. The temperature was very , low throughout the day. At one o’clock this morning the weather was cold and clear. The barometer readings for this morning, Wednesday and Tuesday have been: This morning (rising) 29.70in5. Wednesday 29.66in5. Tuesday 29.52in5.
