The Minister of Lands (the Hon. F. Langstone), who represented New Zealand at the International Labour conference at Geneva, returned to the Dominion yesterday. He was accompanied by Mrs Langstone.—Press Association.

Sir Osborn G. Holmden and Lady Holmden have arrived in Wellington in the course of a tour. Sir Osborn was a director on the Inter-Allied Chartering Executive in the war of 1914-18.—Press Association.

Dr J. Malcolm, Professor of Physiology at Otago University will visit Invercargill on Friday to deliver an address under the auspices of the University Association of Southland. Mr F. J. Adams, who has resigned from the position of pilot instructor to the Southland Aero Club to take up duties in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, will leave Invercargill this morning.

Mr H. H. Sterling, a member of the New Zealand Boxing Council, arrived in Invercargill last night from Wellington to attend the national boxing championships. Mr Sterling was formerly general manager of the New Zealand Railways.

Mr A. J. Geddes, one of the South Island Rugby selectors, was a passen - ger for Christchurch by the express yesterday morning. , Mr A. S. Holms,, of Waimahaka, a member of the Meat Board, left yesterday for Wellington.

Mi- W. A. Ott is at present paying a visit to Dunedin.

Dr T. McKibbin, medical officer of health for Otago and Southland, who has been visiting Invercargill, returned to Dunedin by the midday train yesterday. Mr W. G. V. Fernie, of Christchurch, general manager of ■ Calder Mackay Company, Ltd., arrived in Invercargill yesterday. He is staying at the Grand Hotel.

Dr R. T. Hay, of Dunedin, is at present visiting Invercargill. Mr E. Sinclair, Inspector of Health, Invercargill, is at present on leave in Dunedin.

Mr A. H. Courtis (president ot the New Zealand Boxing Association) was presented by the secretary (Mr G. P. Aldridge), when the annual conference of the association opened in Invercargill yesterday, with the gold badge of the association. The badge is presented to every president on completing his term of office. Mr Aldridge referred to the valuable work Mr Courtis had done for the association and for boxing generally, and said it gave him great pleasure in observing this custom of the association. In thanking the association Mr Courtis expressed his appreciation of the privilege of being president for the last year.
