CLEARING SALE AT BALFOUR

Wright, Stephenson ■ and Co., Ltd., report having held a successful clearing sale at Balfour on account of the trustees of the late Mr William McDonald. The auction was conducted in ideal weather, and there was a good attendance of buyers The sheep were yarded in. good condition, and met with a ready sale at full market rates, 2-shear ewes making 30/-, 3-shear ewes 28/-. 1-shear ewes 27/8, 4-shear ewes 21/-, and ewe hoggets 24/3. Horses also met with a ready sale, and prices were higher than was expected The top price of £-34/10/- was received for a good type of nine-year-old gelding. The implements, sundries and furniture sold at full current rates. Sales were: Three hundred and thirty-six ewe at 24/3, 297 1shear ewes at 27/8, 153’ 2-shear ewes at 30/-. 134 3-shear ewes at 28/-. 198 4-shear ewes at 21/-. 10 f.m. ewes at 15/-, 7 wethers at 12/-, 9 rams at 5/-, 7-vear mare at £24/10/-, 7-year mare at £25/10/-, 7-year mare at £33, 4year filly at £2O. 9-year gelding at £34/10/-, aged mare £5, aged gelding at £3, 2-year filly at £6, 2 dairy cows at £5,.2 calves at £l/2/6. Implements: Roller at £l4, topdresser at £lB, binder at £33/10/-. harrows at £5, drill at £25/10/-,, grass-seed box at £9, ridger at £l5. disk plough at £5/10/-, E>J?. plough at J 33, dray at £-3, five stacks at £l5/10/-, 2 stacks at £l2, tip-dray'at £5, oil engine at £7/10/-.
