WINTON Mrs A. Provan, of Riverton, spent last week-eijd with Mrs W. M. Shand, Great North road. Mrs Cameron, of Mataura Island, has been the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Brown, Albert street. Miss Mona English, of Invercargill, spent the week-end with Mrs M. O’Brien, Great North Road. At the weekly cribbage tournament held in the Soldiers’ Club rooms the prize-winners were Mesdames McCulfogh and Pollock and Mr P. Kerr. _ Miss Mavis Brumby, Great North road, was a visitor to Invercargill for the week-end. Mr and Mrs W. J. Bews have returned from their wedding trip and have taken up residence in Home street. Mrs T. McLean, of Oreti, is spending a holiday at Nightcaps as the guest of her daughter Mrs G. Excell. At the weekly euchre tournament
held under the auspices of the Winton Returned Soldiers’ Association on Thursday evening, the prize-winners were Mrs J. McKenzie and Mr Jenm S. Smart, Park street, spent the week-end in Invercargill. Mrs Cochrane, sen., of Colac Bay, is the guest of Mr and Mrs H. Cochrane, New road. _ „ , . Mrs G. Cowan, of Drummond, is spending a few days in Invercargill. Mrs Stevens, of Otautau, has been the guest of Mrs E. Davis, Park street. Mr and Mrs W. C. Cleine, of Invercargill, were the week-end guests of Mrs C. Baird, Mary street. Miss Mona Gerrard, New road, left last week to take up a position in Garston. Mr and Mrs J. Kilby, Mary street; were visitors to Invercargill for the week-end. OREPUKI Mr and Mrs L. Morrison, Mr and Mrs A. Morrison, and Mr J. Morrison, sen., Marine parade, Bluff, were the recent guests of Mr and Mrs J. Morrison, jun. Miss Olive Thomson spent the weekend at her home in Invercargill. Miss R. Whelan is staying at Athol where she is the guest of her sister, Mrs Soper. . Mr N. McNay paid a brief visit to Invercargill recently. Mrs A. Couling and her family, Thornbury, have been the guests of Mrs H. Brown. Mr and Mrs J. Hassard, Otautau, have been staying with Mrs G. Daley. Miss T. Finnerty of the nursing staff of Wallace Hospital, Riverton, is spending part of her annual leave at her home in Orepuki. Miss M. A. Hurst, who has been infant mistress at the Orepuki school for nearly six years, has received notice of her appointment to the Edendale school. Mrs Rutter, Balfour, is spending a
holiday as the guest of her daughter, Mrs A. Beer.’ WOODLANDS Miss Jean Edwards, of the nursing staff of the Stafford street hospital, Dunedin, is spending a holiday with her cousin, Miss Margaret Robertson, Mabel Bush. Mr and Mrs A. Adamson, Miss Valmai Adamson, and Master Lloyd Adamson, have returned to Mabel Bush, after a fortnight’s holiday in Dunedin. Miss Thelma Phillips, of Gore, is staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs E. Phillips. ( WYNDHAM Mrs J. Dynes, Alma street, is at present on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Miss M. McNeilly, Mosgiel, was the guest of Mr and Mrs W. Thompson for the week-end. Mr and Mrs B. Hart, who were recent guests of Mr and Mrs N. Henderson, Cardigan road, have returned to Dimedin. Mr and Mrs M. R. S. Milbum, Lumsden, were week-end visitors to Mr and Mrs D. Macpherson, Alma street Miss E. Macfarlane, who was the guest of Mr and Mrs E. S. Macfarlane, Balaclava street, for a few days, has returned to Invercargill. Mr and Mrs W. Johnston, Lumsden, wpre week-end visitors of Mr and Mrs J. D. Hophins, “Holmwood.”
