TODAY’S DUNEDIN FIELDS

Interesting Card For Final Day SOLID SUPPORT FOR STRIP NIGHTCALM IN WINNING FORM The fields for the Dunedin Jockey Club’s winter meeting, which is to conclude at Wingatui today, represent the best class available while numerically they are stronger than was anticipated earlier in the week. Much interest was being shown in a clash between Black Banner and Gold Wren in the Dunedin Steeplechase, but it was reported from Dunedin on Thursday that a decision had been made not to race Black Banner. If this is the case the Dunedin Steeplechase should be a bloodless victory for the Otago Steeplechase winner, Gold Wren. Form for today’s meeting has been well disclosed but the racing promises to be as interesting as, if not more so than, during the first two days. The King George Handicap, the leading flat event on today’s card, is one of the most open races of the meeting. The probable favourite is Nightcalm but others in Thermidor, Spanish Lad and Passaform are all capable of making a great race of it. A report from Dunedin last evening stated that the track would again provide firm going. The win-and-place system of betting will operate and the first race will start at 11.30 a.m. Form horses are:— GREENFIELD HURDLES: Fireguard, Pink Robe, Recollection. ELECTRIC HANDICAP: Airdrie, Royal Style, Strathalbyn. EMPIRE HANDICAP: Strip, Rebel Mate, StraightdeL DOMAIN HANDICAP: Spearthrust, Astral Flash, Green Boa. DUNEDIN STEEPLECHASE.
