TREE PLANTING AND PARKS PROPOSED
CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL PROJECTS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 9. The National Centennial Council met today. The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) outlined the steps taken to look after the cultural side of the celebrations. The Government town planning officer, Mr J. W. Mawson, in a report not released for publication, severely criticized some of the designs for memorial projects. The agenda included applications for approval of more than 120 propositions. A pleasing feature is that more than half fake'the form of parks and treeplanting. ' 1 The Minister emphasized that it was essential that long before the beginning of the centennial period, the council should be in a position to issue a complete official programme of the approved celebrations.
