MOTOR-CYCLE TRIAL
GOOD PERFORMANCE BY A. H. CURRIE Eighteen riders started and 17 completed the course in a motor-cycle reliability trial held under the auspices of the Southland Motor-Cycle Club over a 100-mile course, which ran from Invercargill through Browns, Otapiri Gorge, Centre Bush and back to Invercargill. The trial consisted of 10 sections, the most difficult of which was a heavy section of clay near Browns which caused a good deal of delay. The winner, A. H. Currie, thoroughly deserved his win, riding consistently all the way. H. Field, the winner of the lightweight class, also rode well, scoring third highest marks in the trial. Results:— Class A (under 3 J horse power): First, H. Field, who rode a 2J h.p. Royal Enfield; second equal, T. Bath and E. S. Tall, who rode a 2J h.p. Triumph and a 2} h.p. Royal Enfield respectively; third, V. Kingsland, on a 2J h.p. Velocette. Class B (over 3\ h.p.): First A. H. Currie on a 3) h.p. Twin Triumph; second, C. Hynd on a 3J h.p. Velocette; third, R. R. Tall who rode a 3J h.p. Royal Enfield. The following were the winning teams: A. H. Currie (Triumph), C. Hind (Velocette) and G. Savory (Velocette) first. E. S. Tall, H. Field and R. R. Tall, all riding Royal Enfields, second. V. Kingsland, M. Brown and F. Gillies, all of whom rode Velocettes, third.
