GOLF CLUB’S DRAW FOR TODAY McCORKINDALE CUP COMPETITION

The draw of the Gore Golf Club for the McCorkindale Cup knock-out competition is as follows, play to begin today:— First Round.—-L. G. Thomson v. Ritchie; Caldwell v. Willcocks; Melville v. Cockerell; Aldersen v. Steans; Osman v. Tansley; Feast v. Smart; G. Young v. Aitken; C. Barron v. McGregor. Second Round.—Haggitt v. Campbell; Hunter v. L. Barron; Crosbie v. F. Young; S. Taylor v. D. S. McLeod; Reid v. West; E. Taylor v. McCaughan; Kelly v. Stevenson; Smith v. D. M. McLeod; Orr v. Barsdell; Thorn v. G. Thompson; Allan v. Martin; Boult v. Atkins.

TABLE TENNIS

Table tennis matches were played in the Jubilee Club Rooms, Gore, between teams from the St. Mary’s Club, Gore, and the Mataura Club. Mataura won the A grade match by seven games to one and St. Mary’s defeated Mataura by six games to two in the B grade match. Scores were:—

A Grade.—First round: D. Horn (Mataura) lost to B. Kelly (St. Mary’s) 12-21, 10-21; M. McGowan (Mataura) defeated A. Gladstone (St. Mary’s) 14-21, 21-18, 21-16; D. English (Mataura) defeated E. Steel (St. Mary’s) 21-19, 21-11; Douglas Horn (Mataura) defeated F. Mcßride ’ (St Mary’s) 21-14, 21-10. Second round: D. Horn defeated A. Gladstone 14-21, 21-18, 21-19; M. McGowan defeated F. McBride 21-13, 18-21, 21-18; D. English defeated B. O’Neil 21-14, 15-21, 21-11; D. Hom defeated N. Walsh 21-16, 21-14. B Grade.—First round: L. Uren (Mataura) lost to J. Currie (St. Mary’s) 12- 10-21; M. McCartney (Mataura) lost to Miss M. Mallon (St. Mary's) 21-14, 14-21, 12-21; R. Maslin (Mataura) ’ lost to B. O’Neil (St. Mary’s) 14-21, 17-21; T. P. Bogue (Mataura) lost to F. Twist (St. Mary’s) 21-11, 13- 13-21. Second round: M. McCartney defeated. F. Twist 21-18. 19-21, 21- L. Uren defeated T. O’Neil 22- 21-14; T. P. Bogue defeated Miss C. Kelly 20-22, 21-17, 21-18; R. Maslin lost to C. Steel 19-21, 21-19, 13-21.
