Following is the .special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the meteorological office, Wellington:— Moderate to strong winds, between north-west and south-west, with south-westerlies gradually becoming more general. Weather changeable, with occasional showers and, in places, hail. Temperatures cooler. Seas rather rough to rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather changeable, with occasional showers in most districts but more especially in/ those with a westerly aspect. Temperatures rather cooler. General Situation.—The depression is now passing slowly away to the southeast Although pressure is still very low in the south, it is rising there and also over Tasmania. Winds.—North-west to west, or in places south-west; strong at times about and south of Cook Strait; otherwise, light to moderate south-wester-lies, gradually becoming more general, especially in western areas. Seas.—New Zealand waters, moderate on parts of the East Coast south of East Cape, elsewhere rather rough to rough; eastern Tasman sea, moderate to strong west to south-west winds; rather rough to rough seas. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was overcast. In the evening the sky became clearer and at midnight there was a hint of frost in the air.
