WOMAN BANKRUPT’S INDIFFERENCE

COURT MAKES ORDER FOR APPREHENSION (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 8. An application to have a bankrupt apprehended and brought before the Court for examination was heard by Mr Justice Fair in the Supreme Court. The bankrupt, Mrs Daisy Hilda Newbury, widow, of Auckland, had been summoned to appear before the Official Assignee for examination but had failed to respond. Mr McCarthy, appearing for the Official Assignee, said Mrs Newbury had been declared a bankrupt on March 31 and the Official Assignee had required her to furnish him with a statement of her assets and liabilities and other particulars and to come before him. She had maintained an attitude of studied indifference from the beginning. An order was made that bankrupt be apprehended and brought before the Court at 11 a.m. next day for examination.
