BALFOUR
SOCIAL EVENING A big number of district residents and visitors gathered in the Kingston Crossing School to extend a welcome to Mr and Mrs K. King on their return to the district. The evening was spent in dancing. Items were contributed by Messrs J. McCartney, K. King, N. Walker and J. McCartney. The chairman Mr A. Orr, on behalf of the district residents, extended a welcome to Mr and Mrs King. He asked the guests to accept a well-filled envelope and extended the good wishes of all present. Messrs J. McCartney and A. Stew’art supported the remarks of the chairman. Music for dancing was supplied by Mr and Mrs P. Shallard and Messrs Dwyer and Young. Mr W. Hollands was M.C. Apologies for absence were received from Mr and Mrs McWhirter, Mr and Mrs W. Orr, Mr and Mrs L. Campbell and Miss Nicholl. ■> RUGBY FOOTBALL Playing at Balfour, the Balfour junior team defeated Riversdale by 19 points to nine. Tries were scored for Balfour by J. Stevens, H. Stevens, S. Baird, S. Grant and W. Stevens. Magee converted two tries.
