WOODLANDS
YOUNG ' FARMERS’ CLUB ADDRESS ON FIRST AID At a meeting of the Woodlands Young Farmers’ Club in the Woodlands hall there was an excellent attendance of members. After the business of the meeting had been conducted the club received an interesting address by Mr J. Bell, of Invercargill, holder of the “Order of Serving Brother of St. John” on the subject of first aid. Opening his address by giving a description of the human body and aided by charts showing the functions and composition of the various parts, Mr Bell went on to explain the different types of bone fractures the treatment of them and especially the correct system of bandaging. Mr Bell outlined the muscular system and the way in which injuries should be treated when veins had been severed in various parts of the body. He also gave a summary of methods to be used in minor injuries, fainting, and strokes and for the application of antiseptics and bandages. A vote of thanks to Mr Bell for his able address was carried.
