The new tug was built at a cost of £53,000, compared with £13,980 that the present tug cost the board in 1906. In length, the new tug is the same as the old one, 115 ft, but she is 29ft in width, compared with 25ft, and her depth is 14ft, against 13ft. The most important improvement in the new tug is an increase in her power, which is 1500 h.p., compared with the 1000 h.p. of the old vessel. The vessel sailed from Glasgow on March 27 and had a stormy passage down the Australian coast and across the Tasman. OTHER PORTS COASTAL AND OVERSEAS AUCKLAND, June ‘B.
