COMBINED RALLY IN INVERCARGILL
SOUTHLAND METHODIST BIBLE CLASSES
The combined Southland Methodist Bible classes held a rally in Invercargill on Monday, the King’s Birthday holiday. There was a big attendance of members from classes throughout the district as well as from the 11 Invercargill classes. Representatives from the country classes included members from Ermedale, Riverton, Wild Bush, Ohai, Nightcaps, Gore, Wyndham and Edendale. The Invercargill members began the rally with a prayer meeting in the Jed street Central Church at 9.30 a.m. At 11 o’clock the country representatives were assembled and a church service was conducted by the Rev. J. N. Blight, of Riverton. A communion service was then held by the Rev. G. B. Hinton, of St. Peter’s Church. Short addresses were given by the Revs. G. Densem (Otautau),N. Brasell (Ohai-Nightcaps), N. Challenger (Edendale) and J. N. Blight (Riverton). After the visitors had been entertained at lunch the rally met at St. Peter’s, Elies road, where study circles were formed, the subject being “The successful life.” The subject was summed up by the Rev. G. B. Hinton. Progressive games were then held. A social and community sing was held in the evening. Sister R. Snowden and Miss D. Fairweather were among the guests at the social which was under the direction of Mr R. S. Brown. The master of ceremonies was the Rev. N. Challenger. The Rev. A.. T. Kent, of Gore, closed the rally with a brief talk and prayers.
