SHOWMAN FINED FOR FIGHTING

HAMILTON, June 7. A reported disagreement between two showmen’s organizations in New Zealand—the Outdoor Amusement Caterers’ Guild and the New Zealand Showmen’s Association—came to a head last evening when the police were called in to stop a fracas which had developed at the Waikato winter show. As a result, Cecil William Mitchell (Mr J. W. King), aged 29, a showman, and Allan Barton, aged 27, a showman, appeared before Messrs F. Findlay and G. K. Sinclair, J.P.s, in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court today charged fighting. The case against Mitchell was dismissed and Barton was fined £5, in default 14 days’ imprisonment. Mitchell pleaded not guilty and Barton pleaded guilty.
