MAORI SENTENCED TO HARD LABOUR
UNLAWFUL CARNAL KNOWLEDGE (United Press Association) GISBORNE, June 7. A sentence of six months’ hard labour was imposed by Mr Justice Smith on a Maori, Solomon White, aged 21, who appeared on two charges of unlawful carnal knowledge. It was revealed that the prisoner previously had been before the Court and was admitted to probation for a similar offence on the same girl. His Honour said that although he would take into consideration that the girl was a very willing party, a gaol Sentence was inevitable.
