NEW VAUXHALL 14

Model With A Wide Appeal GREATER COMFORT FOR DRIVERS The Vauxhall 14 of past years has been a Very popular car in New Zealand. Now comes the natural successor to this car—a 14 that is bigger and roomier, with even livelier performance and an all-important economy factor in its capacity for running 30 miles to the gallon with ordinary driving. The car is new in almost every detail and at the same time it follows accepted Vauxhall practice. The engine, of course, is valve-in-head, developing considerably more power than the previous motor for the same petrol consumption. The wheelbase is 4in longer and the result of this is a bigger body with more seat width and greater leg room. The body is of all steel integral construction which has already been so successfully used on the Vauxhall 10 and 12. Lockheed hydraulic brakes are now fitted on the new 14 and there is an entirely new torsion bar type independent suspension. The car is changed greatly, not only in its mechanical design and in its appearance, but also in new features that contribute to the comfort of the driver. There is, for instance, an adjustable steering wheel. It is a simple matter to adjust the steering wheel to whatever height is most convenient. There is a luggage trunk that pulls downward to make a tray for additional luggage if desired. The adjustable front seat has no solid base; it consists of springs resting on a foundation of horizontal coiled springs stretched between tubular frames. Arm-rests on both front doors are also adjustable both for height and for angle. . There is a centre folding arm rest in the rear seat, ash trays in front and rear compartments, and no less than 8 pockets or cubby holes for the storage of parcels, and odds and ends. Finally, there is a very simple jacking system, the convenience of which every motorist will appreciate.
