NIGHTCAPS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

A Presbyterian Church Mission is being conducted by students from Knox College Theological Hall, Dunedin. They are Messrs F. R. Belmer, B.A. (leader), W. J. Mclntosh, 8.A., C. W. R. Madill, M.A., D. R. Madill and D. CzSpencer. The opening service ’was conducted in the Nightcaps Presbyterian Church. ( Subjects to be taken are as follows: “God Who spake in time past hath spoken unto us” (Revelation); “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us” (Incfarnation); “God was Christ reconciling the world unto him? self’ (Atonement); “As many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the Sons of God” (Redemption). GOLF CLUB The competition of the Nightcaps Golf Club was a flag match and resulted in a very even contest. J. Johnstone, with a handicap of 10, placed the flag in the hole at the eighteenth green. J. Smeaton missed a two-foot putt and failed to tie. A third player, F. McSaveney, who played on the 19th mark, took the flag within 10ft of the last hole and A. Cochrane, a nine handicap player, finished just ff the last green. More than 60 players from Southland clubs are expected to take part in the Western District championship meeting next week-end. With fine weather, the course and greens are expected to be in tip-top order and a most enjoyable day is expected. e CARD EVENING , The Catholic Church ' held a successful card evening in the supper room of the town hall.
