PETROL COMPANY GIVES DINNER

EUROPA RESELLERS ENTERTAINED The resellers of Europa petrol in Southland were entertained at dinner and at a social evening at Elmwood Garden last night by the Associated Motorists Petrol Company Ltd. Mr J. L. Passmore, a director, was chairman and there was a big and representative attendance. Resellers were present from districts a considerable distance from Invercargill including Lumsden, Riverton, Gore, Mataura, Wyndham, Tokanui, and Otautau. Messrs A. E. Ansell, director, J. R. Haigh, sales manager for New Zealand, P. W. Breen, manager for the Otago district, and C. P. Holmes, manager of the Southland district, were also present. Mr Holmes was responsible for arranging the function. ’ Mr Passmore thanked the guests for attending and hoped that they would spend an enjoyable evening. The past year had been a record one for the company. He mentioned that the company was owned entirely by New Zealanders.

The history of the company was traced briefly by Mr Haigh, who apologized for the absence of the general manager. He was very pleased to renew old friendships that he had made while he was organizer for the company in Southland. The company appreciated the co-operation of the resellers, he said. • The toast of the resellers was proposed by Mr Ansell who mentioned, the excellent support the resellers had given the company. The growth of motor transport in Southland and the potentialities of the province were also referred to by Mr Ansell. Mr T. R. Taylor replied on behalf of the resellers. He mentioned the development of the company and said that the relations between the resellers and the company were always cordial. Several musical items were given during the evening. Mr Norman Armstrong played the accompaniments.
