RUMOUR ABOUT NEW LINER
NO COMMENT BY SHIPPING COMPANY CHAIRMAN “As far as 1 am concerned I have no comment to make. If I had any news I would be glad to give it to you,” said Mr N. S. Falla, chairman and managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company, when asked by telephone yesterday whether he could deny or confirm the rumour that a new Tasman liner would be built shortly to run between Melbourne, Milford Sound and Wellington. The rumour was mentioned at the meeting of the Bluff Harbour Board on Wednesday night, when Mr W. J. A. McGregor mentioned that the new vessel would replace the present service provided by the Maunganui and would cut out all South Island ports except Milford Sound after the road to Milford Sound was completed.
