THE WINTER SHOW

To The Editor

Sir, —In reply to Mr A. L. Adamson’s letter of May 24 I wish to state that I wrote complaints to Mr Adamson, the result being that he asked me to make my entries as usual and he would give me an undertaking that in future there would be no more than 12 varieties in any entry in the Garden Competition. As the old system still Continued for a few years and was becoming worse, I wrote to Mr Adamson again and pointed this out, asking what the directors were going to do about it. His answer was that as I was neither a member of the association nor an exhibitor, I was not entitled to know. As I was instrumental in getting this competition included in the schedule and was an exhibitor for a few years, I naturally took an interest in it. Although I offered and was willing to help put this class on a good footing, I met only with rebuffs. This was some more of the respect shown by the committee of which Mr Adamson boasts.—Yours, etc., J. S. BOYLES. May 24, 1939. [Other letters have been held over because of pressure on space.]
