OLD CHINA CLIPPER BURNED
40 YEARS’ SERVICE AS COAL HULK IN WELLINGTON (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 24. Tongues of flames and masses of black smoke near Ward Island towards noon heralded the end of the old China clipper William Manson after 40 years’ service in Wellington as a coal hulk. She was towed to the island this morning, beached and later set alight. Soon she was ablaze from, end to end.
