THREE YEARS’ HARD LABOUR
(United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 12. Percy Reginald Speers, aged 42, a draper, who was found guilty by a jury of illegally using an instrument to procure a miscarriage was sentenced to three years’ hard labour by his Honour Mr Justice Smith this morning. His Honour said the point of law to have been reserved for the Court of Appeal had been abandoned by counsel who since yesterday had found decisions against it.
